I would just like to mention the importance of checking property sale/ transfer records (Registry of Deeds) over the last few months in regard to home inspections. Fitchburg had 13 house sales in April that went un noted or inspected to the FD and 27 inspections that went un noted or inspected in May without notification to the FD. Some of the properties that sold in May were in fact inspected and failed previous to the sale that transferred to the buyer responsibility. Bothersome point was that the Chief had asked us to NOT stop inspections and we continued through the pandemic if the occupants were not sick. There was no good reason for these inspection results and I believe the sellers bargained on the Legislative allowance to move the properties easily without concern.
By no means am I stating illegal activity, I am only stating that now I have to work with Chief to figure a way to remediate this issue of 40 missed inspections that has more than doubled last month without any notice at all to FD. I felt like you should know to have your radar up.
